Sabo Philip Sumi, popularly known as Min. Sumi, is a gifted gospel artist from Ungwanwaje (Lhass) in Bogoro LGA, Bauchi State, Nigeria. Born on February 2, 1988, Min. Sumi discovered his passion for music at an early age and has remained committed to using his gift to glorify God and also a apart time pastor with redeem Christian church.
Min. Sumi’s journey into music began in the church at the age of 15. Encouraged by his music director in 2009 to write his first song, ‘Declare Your Praise’, he realized that songwriting came naturally to him. Since then, he has written over 20 songs, recorded 18, and released 13 tracks, showcasing his devotion to spreading God’s word through music. His debut album, ‘Not My Will’, released in 2016, is a testament to his unwavering faith and love for contemporary gospel music.
Deeply inspired by gospel music programs on radio, especially Peace FM Jos, Min. Sumi finds encouragement and creativity through the melodies and messages he hears. Influences from renowned gospel ministers like Pam Monday, Kefas Diyal, Ezra Jinang, Solomon Lange, and Solomon Damulak have also shaped his musical path.
Min. Sumi’s style is simple yet profound, resonating with audiences through heartfelt lyrics and spirit-filled worship. He views his ministry as being firmly within the jurisdiction God has allowed, and his songs aim to inspire, uplift, and bring people closer to God.
